Facebook And Twitter
Social media has become one of the necessities for the
present generation. It employs web and mobile based technologies to support
interactive dialogue and introduce substantial and pervasive changes to
communication between organizations, communities and individuals.
There are various forms of social media like magazines, weblogs,
social networks, wikis and many others. I guess everyone who is watching my
posts right now have their Facebook account, if not then twitter. These fall into
the famous social networks ranked 1st and 2nd according
to no. of users.
In this post I’d just
like to summarize some of their main features. I thought it’d be interesting
for the ones who don’t have twitter account to find what they are missing and
what they are not. It’s not been much that I too started tweeting.
Facebook as everybody knows is one of a kind and can be
addiction. Status updates, sharing photos, likes, comments, groups,
discussions, invitation, and so on. There are many features but in twitter
these are limited. You just tweet which is similar to updating your Facebook
status with a difference that you should limit your letters to 140. Unlike in
Facebook where status can go up to a paragraph, readers won’t hesitate to read
a sentence.
In twitter too, u can
upload your photos, you can tag it using @name. Just like “Like” button on
Facebook there Is a “Favourite” button In twitter. If you find the person’s tweet interesting
then you can press the “Retweet” button which allows you to share the very
tweet with the people who follows you. You can interact with the celebrities
and also with people who seems interesting to you in Twitter, simply using @name, but
this lacks privacy. Your conversation can be seen by your followers. If you
need privacy then you may use direct messaging which is similar to FB chat.
Unlike in Facebook, twitter is such a place where you are
supposed to be happy when someone who is known or unknown to you ,follows you.
I mean to say the more you gain followers, the more famous you are. I think
Facebook is meant for being in touch with your friends; with their news, but
twitter is about making new friends. Right now in twitter I have about 100
followers, and personally I have not met more than 20 people, and all of those being my college friends.
These are some of the features that I’ve mentioned, well
there are many. Try tweeting. You won’t regret.
